Yoga and Psychotherapy make a perfect union, off the couch and onto the mat!
|
Traumatic events happen to everyone and can lead to isolation and feelings of hopelessness. Traumatic stressors can result in chronic pain, disordered eating, addiction, insomnia, anxiety and depression. A trauma-informed yoga practice is sensitive to the needs of a participant with trauma symptoms and offers them tools to feel safe, empowered, and self-regulated. It is about feeling safe and at-home in your body so that you can feel stable, have good self-esteem, and healthy relationships. There will also be group sharing and discussion at the end of class to reflect and share experiences.
Please bring a yoga mat. Classes are set up so that students are in control over what they are doing with their body at all times and the teacher is there to provide safe, professional guidance and to help students focus on particular dynamics (what muscles they are using, what it feels like to have their feet on the ground, what it feels like to breathe, etc.)
