Free Monthly Community Education Events at New Beginnings
The New Beginnings Center will be launching a series of monthly community education events, beginning July 11th. The events are FREE and open to the public, and will take place at The New Beginnings Center. Limited space is available so registration is suggested. - Tuesday, July 11th at 7pm: Dimensions of Gender presented by Sean Baker, LMFT, SEP
- Tuesday, August 1st at 7pm: EMBRACE Documentary Screening facilitated by Registered Dietician, Aimee Hammond
- Tuesday, September 5th at 7pm: Coping with Chronic Illness presented by Britt Fishman, LMFT
Britt Fishman, MFT will be facilitating a training on Chronic Illness at Engage on June 9th. This class will focus on the many unique physical, social, and emotional challenges those with chronic illness and their family members must face, and what concerning signs are especially important to look for when treating them. She will introduce the Fennell Model as a way to conceptualize the cyclical process a person and their loved ones may go through in living with a chronic illness. Finally, She will discuss different types of interventions and resources you can provide to individuals with chronic illness and their loved ones to increase their support system, and help them develop resilience and coping skills.
